Amazon Funds Held After Account Closure

A permanently closed account does not automatically mean permanently lost funds — but it narrows your options sharply, and the 60-day window still applies.

Closure vs Deactivation

Deactivation is reversible. Closure is Amazon’s final position. The funds question survives both, and it survives them on its own clock.

What Remains Open

The disbursement appeal, if you are within 60 days. BSA arbitration for US sellers. The APUK and FOS route for UK sellers.

When We Will Tell You to Stop

If the amount held is smaller than the realistic cost of recovering it, we will say so. Some cases are not worth fighting, and you deserve to hear that before you pay anyone.

Documentation That Helps After Closure

Keep every record connected to the account: the closure notice itself, any prior deactivation notices, transaction history, and any correspondence about held funds. Closure often follows a period of deactivation, and the paper trail from that earlier period matters when you are arguing for funds release afterward.

If the account was closed during or shortly after the 60-day disbursement window, note the exact dates. Whether you are still inside that window at the point of closure changes which route is realistically available.

When Closure Genuinely Ends the Case

Some closures follow serious, well-documented policy violations where no further route is likely to succeed. We would rather tell you that directly, before you pay for arbitration or a regulatory complaint that has little chance of changing the outcome.
